INNOVATIVE ATTACHMENT SYSTEM
Enhance wind uplift resistance while using fewer plates and fasteners with Sika Sarnafil’s RhinoBond® System. RhinoBond is an alternative attachment system for Sarnafil and Sikaplan roof membranes. The RhinoBond system eliminates membrane fastener penetration by induction welding (fusing) the membrane directly to the specially coated plates used to secure the insulation or hardboard to the deck. The result is a roofing system that uses fewer plates and fasteners while enhancing the wind uplift resistance.
Below are some of the reasons why a RhinoBond roofing system might be the best fit for your project.
RHINOBOND SYSTEM BENEFITS
- Quick and easy to install
- Fewer plates and fasteners
- No membrane fastener penetrations
- Enhanced wind uplift resistance
- Even wind load distribution
- FM approval up to 210 PSF
- Ideal for metal retrofit applications
- Elimination of half sheets
- Reduces membrane “flutter”
- Covered by system warranty
METAL RETROFIT MADE EASY
With metal building re-roofing projects, typically the roof consists of a light gauge metal panel, which does not provide adequate fastener pullout values. The typical roofing option is to fasten the membrane into the structural purlins which are usually spaced at 5-foot centers. Typically this application usually requires the use of a special width membrane, or causes substantial membrane waste. Using the RhinoBond plate system, the dimensions of the roof membrane are no longer an issue! You can install the RhinoBond plate and purlin fastener into the purlin at the rate required to meet the uplift force. The standard 10-foot wide membrane is then placed over the attached substrate and induction welded to the plates.
REDUCE FLUTTER ON STRUCTURAL DECK SUBSTRATES
When not being used on a metal retrofit application, the plate and fastener “grid pattern” distributes the uplift load over a larger area than typical in-seam, linear fastening systems. This reduces the likelihood of point loading of the deck. It also facilitates flexibility when installing the roof membrane, as orientation of the deck is not an issue (fastener rows must be perpendicular to the steel ribs in spot attached). The grid pattern also increases wind uplift and minimizes sheet flutter.
